Welcome, at Talking Therapy London I offer counselling in a safe space where clients can freely explore their thoughts and feelings without judgement or interruption.
I support and accompany my clients on their therapeutic journey through acceptance and acknowledgement of who they are.
Hello I'm Rahim, I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
The Person-Centred modality fits into my philosophy of life; that the individual knows what is best for them and is capable of coming to their own conclusions based on their own value system.
Sometimes, we could all use a safe, non-judgemental space to help us get there.
A part of my therapy journey and training has been around working with the difficulties of confronting cultural and identity conflicts.
From early on my reality became that of navigating two worlds, one within the family home and one outside the front door; where 'belonging' was a big question for me.
Pursuing this question led to major life changing decisions. Exploring this in my therapy led to discovering that my answer to belonging was an internal safe and secure place of self acceptance.
The personal sense of liberation and empowerment I gained through therapy inspired me to train as a person centred therapist; to be able to offer that liberating non judgemental space to others.
Practice description
My role as a person-centred counsellor is to walk beside you in your therapeutic journey, where you lead the direction of the session.
To actively listen as you explore your experience which may provide a deeper clarity regarding the issues that brought you to counselling.
No expectations, no deadlines, no judgement. Only complete acceptance of who and where you are.
First Session
The first session can be that time to settle in and become accustomed to the atmosphere.
To step towards building the therapeutic relationship that is based in trust.
This is where we could have a conversation about your background and reasons for seeking counselling, how you are feeling about it in general and if there are any particular areas you would like to focus on.
We will go over the contract and privacy policy that I would have emailed you a few days prior.
Based on your needs we can make amendments to the contract where applicable.

How I deliver therapy
I am available to work with both short term and longer term therapy. Sessions are available via online-video or in-person, whichever suits you best.
Online video counseling sessions are aimed to make therapy more accessible. Whether due to scheduling issues or simply preferring to have online sessions from your own space, it is a flexible and effective format to conduct sessions.
I only ask that you ensure you are in a safe space where you will not be interrupted or overheard in order to maintain your privacy.
In-person sessions are based in 'The Forum at Greenwich', where there are designated rooms set up specifically for therapy sessions.
The building is wheelchair accessible and has working lifts.

Fees start from £60 per 50-minute session (online-video and in-person)
We can go over payment details upon enquiry.
Please feel free to ask any questions around this and we can discuss further.
I will be happy to answer any of your questions around the sessions I offer, how I work, what to expect; or any other counselling related question that might be coming up for you.
My aim is to make you fully aware of the process. So ask away!
I am a fully qualified person-centred therapist and am registered with the BACP; a further indicator of the quality of my ethical practice and qualification.
